Beach

Cape Breton has one of the nicest beaches on the Metediconk River. A combination of shaded areas as well as portions with full sun, picnic tables, and beach chairs allow members to come to beach without having to bring them from home. To insure safe bathing there is a swim area marked, the water is tested weekly and the results are posted on the bullitin board. There is a play area for young children, swings, and a volleyball court. The beach also has restrooms and an outdoor shower.

The beach season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There are a number of events held throughout the summer, check the list of events from the Entertainment  Committee. The beach can also be rented for parties.

If you would like to join the Beach Committee call Dan Vucolo, Dan Siebenmann, or Victor Padlo, they would love to hear from you. If there are any questions regarding the beach, phone numbers are posted on this Web page, feel free to call. We are looking forward to a wonderful Cape Breton summer.

Entertainment

The entertainment committee is responsible for coordinating a variety of activities over the year. Events start with our St. Patrick’s Day party and end with our Halloween extravaganza. Since Cape Breton was a summer destination most of the activities occur between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make our events last year so successful and invite you all to join us again! Each year we remind all our members that participation in the preparation for the party is just as much fun as the event itself, in spite of the hard work.

A list of activities that include the time and location of the events that have been planned is available in the newsletter, on our website, and Facebook page. The Independence Day Beach Party is scheduled for Saturday July 4th with our usual games, and great BBQ. We hope you prepare a dish and join us for the fun.

As always any suggestions for future events or ways to improve our existing events are welcome as are any offers to help out with any of our events. If you are interested please contact us at capebretonhc@gmail.com. We would love to have you join us in the fun!

Clubhouse

The Clubhouse, located at 51 Bretonian Dr., is the center of many of the social activities here at Cape Breton. After a variety of small fixes over the years, it underwent a major renovation in the late 1990’s adding heat and air conditioning, modifying the floor plan, and improving the kitchen. These changes allowed the clubhouse to be used all year round and opened the clubhouse to rentals, even in the winter. After twenty years, with the help of the Century Club, the clubhouse underwent a major renovation. As a result we now have an outstanding venue for members, which can accommodate events of up to ninety people.

Four major events are held during the year as well as a monthly gathering which help builds the community interaction. The dates and times of the events can be found on the entertainment page.

Dock

Are you ready? The boating season is almost here! We are actively looking to fill vacant boat slips, so if you know of anyone interested, please send them our way. Word of mouth is always the best and most positive form of advertisement!

Hopefully. this boating season will see lots of good times ahead spent with friends and family. Whether fishing, tubing, dining “al fresco”, or just floating to watch the beautiful sunsets and fireworks on the river; boating offers unlimited opportunities for fun. And don’t forget, there’s great fishing and crabbing to be had right from our dock!

And let’s not forget what a great location we have on the picturesque Metedeconk River! With F-Cove, dining, Barnegat Bay, Toms River, Tice’s Shoal, Treasure Island, the Point Pleasant Canal and the ocean all within a 45-minute ride, Cape Breton is perfectly situated for all your boating adventures.

Have a safe, fun, relaxing boating season and we’ll see you on the river!
